Airway and Skeletal Growth and Development: Etiology and Interventions

Course Objectives:

  • Understand skeletal growth and development and how airway issues at early ages can alter jaw growth
  • How to co-diagnose airway and sleep issues in children and adults. Learn the basics behind sleep apnea including common terminology, how the diagnoses are made, and what this means for your patients
  • Learn interdisciplinary approaches to treatment including how and when to work with sleep medicine, ENT, myofunctional therapy, pediatric dentistry, OMFS, and orthodontics
  • An in-depth breakdown of treating various skeletal issues including: underbites, overbites, crossbites, and open bites
  • Exploring various treatment modalities for children and adults including different expansion protocols
  • Discussions surrounding controversial topics such as extractions, open bites, and root resorption
  • Hands on MSE module including TAD placement (Maxillary Skeletal Expander by Dr. Won Moon) - Materials supplied by Great Lakes Orthodontics
